Senior management team
Helen Troup, Chief Executive Officer

Helen joined ING New Zealand as Chief Executive Officer in July 2008, and is charged with leading ING New Zealand’s funds management, life insurance and real estate businesses through the next phase of growth. She has a broad and extensive experience in the financial services industry.

Previously, Helen was Executive Director of Life Risk at ING in Australia, where she achieved significant growth in revenue, profit and market share. She initially joined ING in 2001 as Head of Life Risk Products, where she led the product development, marketing and reinsurance teams. In 2004, she was promoted to Executive Director, joining the Life Company Board and leading all aspects of ING Australia’s life risk business. As a member of the executive board for ING Australia, she was also involved in the strategic direction of all aspects of the Australian business.

Helen holds a Bachelor of Economics majoring in actuarial studies from Macquarie University, together with a number of management and insurance qualifications.

She has also been an active committee member for the Australian Industry Association for Financial Services (IFSA), representing/lobbying on various industry issues to regulators, stakeholder and community groups.

 
Paul Butler, Chief Financial Officer

Image not availableAn accountant by profession, Paul has over 15 years’ experience in the finance industry. Before joining ING in mid 1994, Paul held a variety of senior positions in both accounting and general management for a large corporate bank. Paul is responsible for the accounting, legal and tax functions of ING's corporate and managed funds. He is also a member of ING's General Management team.

 
Naomi Ballantyne, Managing Director Insurance

Naomi has an established track record in the financial services industry, with over 20 years' management and executive experience. Notably, a large proportion of that time has been spent within the New Zealand life assurance industry, culminating in her playing a principal role in the establishment and development of Club Life Limited, prior to its being acquired by ING (NZ) Limited in early 2004. Naomi now heads ING Life (NZ) Limited as Managing Director, as well as being part of the ING Senior Management Team.

 
Jeremy Nicoll, Managing Director Real Estate

As ING's Managing Director of Real Estate, Jeremy heads the company’s New Zealand property investment business. Activities include investment management, property management, project management and property administration. Jeremy is also responsible for overseeing all of the financial and corporate functions for both ING Property Trust and ING Medical Properties Trust, as well as ING’s Real Living retirement villages.
A qualified chartered accountant, Jeremy has 14 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specialising in property and funds management roles. He has been with ING since 1999.

 
Philip Houghton-Brown, Chief Investment Officer

Philip is responsible for the management of the ING investment team and is a member of ING’s senior management team. Philip joined ING in 1996 and was responsible for asset allocation, currency and multi-manager research. Prior to joining ING, he had a background of nine years’ experience in the investment industry. From 1991 to 1995, Philip worked at AMP Asset Management in London, where he established the performance analysis team and then became an international equity fund manager. Philip also spent four years with FPG Research, from 1987 to 1991, where he was responsible for investment manager research. Philip is a CFA charterholder and a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute in the UK. He has completed the UK Securities and Investment Institute, IMRO and NZ Society of Investment Analysts examinations.

 
Steven Giannoulis, General Manager Marketing & Investor Services

Image not availableSteven is responsible for marketing strategy across ING's investment products and services, including product management, advertising and sponsorship, communications and brand development. Recently, Steven also assumed responsibility for the client service and administration functions within the investment business. He has a marketing and management degree from Victoria University, an MBA from Southern Cross University (NSW) and over 16 years' marketing and client service experience in the financial services industry. Steven is a member of ING's General Management team.

 
Wayne J Becker, General Manager Distribution

Image not availableWayne Becker is responsible for the distribution of the ING retail investment range throughout New Zealand. He is also a member of the Private Portfolio Service Investment Committee, one of New Zealand’s fastest growing master trusts. Prior to joining ING, Wayne held a Marketing Manager position with Equitilink Australia. He also gained much of his industry experience as Plan Design Manager for IPD Securities, one of New Zealand’s first financial planning companies. Wayne graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Business Studies (First Class Honours) in Finance and Economics and has completed a Diploma in Business Studies endorsed in Personal Financial Planning. His extensive experience in the finance industry began in 1985 when he joined one of New Zealand’s leading sharebroking companies. Wayne is a member of ING's General Management team.

 
Graeme Thomlinson, Head of Wholesale & Institutional Investments

Graeme joined ING from ANZ Funds Management in 2002 following the joint venture between ANZ Bank and ING (NZ) Limited. With 18 years' investment industry experience in the UK and New Zealand, Graeme has had particular exposure to a range of investment operations, the custody industry, trustee issues and client service. At ING, Graeme has responsibility for client relationship management, reporting and communications, marketing and business development activity within the Wholesale and Institutional area.

 
Peter Vasey, General Manager Information Technology

Image not availablePeter is responsible for all aspects of IT within ING New Zealand, including application development and strategy, operations, service desk and infrastructure. Peter is also a member of ING's senior management team.
With an MA from Cambridge, England, Peter has worked exclusively in the financial services area. Initially, he held managerial roles with HSBC and the financial services arm of General Motors, GMAC, in the UK. He credits this time as being critical in developing key operational skills before moving into and specialising in information services 15 years ago.
Most recently, Peter was the Regional CIO for GMAC, Asia Pacific and the Regional CIO for Europe..

 
Ewen Cameron, Head of Risk and Compliance

Image not availableEwen Cameron is Head of Risk and Compliance and has been with ING since 2005. He is responsible for all aspects of Corporate Governance including operational risk, compliance, information risk and business contingency. He is a qualified accountant and honours graduate in Accounts and Finance from the University of the West of England. He has 25 years' experience in financial services in Europe and in Asia Pacific across a variety of businesses, including funds management, investment/retail banking and insurance. Ewen is a member of ING's senior management team.

 
Adrienne Stormont, Head of Human Resources

Image not availableAdrienne has been with ING New Zealand as Head of Human Resources since 2001. She is responsible for human resources strategy across the ING New Zealand group of companies, including culture, organisational and employee development, succession planning, talent management, remuneration and rewards, payroll and personnel security. Adrienne has over 18 years' experience in senior level roles such as General Manager Human Resources, National Human Resources Manager, and Training and Development Manager for a variety of industries, including finance and insurance. Adrienne holds a Diploma in Training and Development, a Graduate Diploma in New Ventures and is about to undertake her Masters in Management. Adrienne is a member of the ING Senior Management team.
